No, its not ugly. Its not brilliant either. I ts fine, just fine.

Not that Raymond Loewy’s design should be considered some sort of sacrosanct flying monument to be preserved for all time, but it is at least iconic, unique, and instantly recognizable. This one, you could swap out the flag and country name and it would work just as well for any country with red, white, and blue national colors.

I’d say modern and postmodern architecture is usually done lazier these days. If someone commissions a classical building, they have to be putting some thought and effort into it, since it isn’t the safe, default choice anymore.

Yes, and I’m surprised there’s not a less expensive copy. It’s a truly outstanding account where he unfolds the event in painstaking detail, but very readable. I couldn’t put the book down. As I read the synopsis, I am reminded how comprehensive and exciting the account is to read. The book was shared with me by a close friend and retired P-3 test pilot.
